Project G: The Golden Bough

For my golden bough I have chosen a literal format, incorporating my own twist to it. I chose to envelope the dried branch in gold color. Gold is a color which is associated with higher ideals, wisdom, understanding and enlightenment. It inspires knowledge, spirituality and a deep understanding of the self and the soul, it illuminates and enhances other things around it. Another significant representation of gold is the color of success, achievement and triumph, all important aspects that I want to conquer through my MA.

The principal strategy that I need to focus on for the second year is myself. Having a family and small kids is easy to lose the grip, the antidote for this possibility appears in my golden bough represented by the main feature “A Mirror,” a straightforward use of the mirror is: seeing my own reflection will remind me to give myself and my projects priority in my life, the mirror is also a subconscious symbol for you to reflect more deeply about yourself, this follows the advice from Gabbi Edlin (CSM MA Alumni) where she stated that the answer to my project success is inside me. Been an “invisible girl” myself helped me to find and understand a few answers and common behavior that appeared during my research question.

The best insights I had during my research were talking to everyday people, as my question being: “How can I Help to Increase visibility and awareness to the invisible girls of the Neurodiversity Community?”, it means the contemporary affected girls are invisible right now, making it difficult to reach for further communication to data collection for my research, this aspect was a surprise as I was looking for answer in a specific field and not within people around me. Putting myself out there and talking with more people in person and not behind a computer (especially inside a community with a satisfactory level of awareness) is something I need to enhance and carry out more.

I etched onto the gold leaves some important words representing the skills that I need to improve, acquire, and execute in my MA project such as: Achievement, wisdom, knowledge, communication, confidence, self-focus, higher ideals, etc. Communication will be the leader skill and focus as I have difficulty approaching and talking to people I do not know in person, as it proved to be massively beneficial to my question, for the second year I need to leave the comfort of online communication and work with my stakeholders and audience face to face.
